DSi Launched in Japan

Friday, October 31st, 2008 by Zach Potts

Well, it’s official; the new NIntendo DSi has officially launched in Japan. Apparently, not TOO many people lined up to pick one of these new handhelds up, but word on the street is that this is due to massive pre-orders. So, we’ll just have to wait a few weeks to see what kind of numbers the DSi gets, but I’m sure it will sell fantastically well.

In other news, Iwata announced that Europe and North America should be getting the DSi before Summer ‘09, so we don’t have to wait TOO long….I guess….those jerks in Japan….:(

Fallout 3 (PS3) Issues

Friday, October 31st, 2008 by Zach Potts

Fallout 3 might be one of the most anticipated games to hit the Playstation 3 platform this year, but unfortunately, many gamers have been experiencing problems playing it. We remember how many glitches and bugs Oblivion has when it was first released, and it seems that Fallout 3 has followed in those footsteps.

One of the common issues people are experiencing when playing their Fallout 3 is a lot of texture slowdown, lagging, occasional freezing to a certain point of the game, naming the GOAT test, and of course, the annoying game pausing when someone logs in and out from your friendlist. The XMB issues has been addressed by Bethesda and hopefully we’ll see some action right away.

It seems that every major game release has its own issues: LittleBigPlanet, Socom, Fable 2, and now Fallout 3. Are you experiencing these problems?

For the record, it seems that the XBOX 360 is running more smoothly than the Playstation 3. Hopefully Bethesda will do something about this!

City of Heroes Comes to the Mac

Thursday, October 30th, 2008 by Matt Cross

Good news Mac people! Now you can get your hands on one of the coolest MMO’s going, City of Heroes! Well, almost.

NCSoft teamed up with TransGaming to bring their hit game to the Mac platform. Starting with Issue 13, there will be a public beta test for Mac gamers to give the MMO a shot before its eventual release sometime before the holidays.

Some of you may already be playing the game via Boot Camp, but for those that aren’t, this is your chance to roam the streets of Paragon City as a super powered hero and take on the evil Arachnos gang. This is one of my personal favorites in terms of MMO’s, so I would recommend any fan of the genre to give this one a spin! Full press release after the jump.

EA Lay Off 600

Thursday, October 30th, 2008 by Matt Cross

Unfortunate turn of events for many workers at Electronic Arts. Word coming in is that EA has let go roughly 600 people, right before the holidays, in effort of cost reduction within the company.

They have also announced that they will be reducing their hiring and plan to close some open positions that they had planned to fill this fiscal year. All parts of EA have have adjusted their employee numbers in effort to ensure that they’ve resourced to allow them continued growth in revenue and at the same time keeping costs as low as possible.

Sad news for those folks who are no longer employed. What a crappy time to get laid off with the biggest retail holiday of the year coming up. Good luck to those who are now seeking employment.

LittleBigPlanet Review

Thursday, October 30th, 2008 by Zach Potts

With so many AAA games coming out for the Playstation 3 this year, LittleBigPlanet is one of the most awaited games to arrive on the platform. The game has received a lot of hype throughout the months ever since it was announced at last year’s Gamer Developers Conference. Some said LittleBigPlanet resembled the king of platformer games, which was Mario, but others said LittleBigPlanet is more unique and shouldn’t be compared to Mario. Now that the game is finally out for everyone to try and make their own judgments, does our Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet have a chance to take Mario’s crown as King of the Platformer?

LittleBigPlanet v1.03 Patch Now Available

Thursday, October 30th, 2008 by Zach Potts

The next time you boot up LittleBigPlanet and you are logged in to the Playstation Network, a new patch will be ready for download allowing you to have smooth gameplay and I am sure it will give you a better online / co-op experience. Since Sony has not announced what the v1.03 really does, we are presuming that this is a fix for the server.

We will update you with the full update details once we get them. For now, the server is back up so Play, Create, and Share!
