Little Big Street Fighter

Sunday, November 30th, 2008 by Daniel Sandoval

The Little Big Planet Street Fighter skins are on their way. We don’t know when, but we’re hoping it’s early next year, most likely with the release of Street Fighter IV.

Whether the designs will be sold seperately or as a collection is yet to be told, although I’m making a bet that it will be the latter.

The four pictured Street Fighter skins consist of Chun-Li, Zangief, Guile, and Ryu.

Here’s hoping that this opens the path to a possible Vega or Akuma blueprint.

Kung Fu Panda: Legendary Warriors Review

Friday, November 28th, 2008 by Zach Potts

I was a little bit excited when I got Kung Fu Panda: Legendary Warriors in, as I was expecting to settle down with a casual adventure/beat-em up, but soon after I started playing, I realized it was only the latter; a beat-em up, and not the good kind.

The game features two sections; the main game, if you can call it that, and the versus mode, which you and your friends can play, but I don’t know why you would put your friends through such torture. The story mode contains 7 stages in which you can play with any of 4 characters, including your favorites from the movies, and you can even play some co-op if you like. Each of these characters does play a little differently, but they are all controlled the same way. There are some variations in the moves you can perform, but essentially, you just wave your wii remote around to attack, with a few combos you can through with the nunchuk and things of that nature, but you will basically be swinging your remote around like crazy. There is also this Chi meter, which fills up as you deal out damage, and when it gets full, you can perform this chi attack on an opponent, and when you complete 3, you can perform this rabbit attack, which puts this swirling barrier around you to automatically hurt enemies for a few seconds. You can learn all of this in the short tutorial, but you won’t really need to remember anything other than swing the remote like crazy.

Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 by Zach Potts

I hope you’re ready to pull out those guitar grips and slide them back into your DS because Guitar Hero is back with On Tour: Decades for the Nintendo DS, brining with it 28 new songs to jam out to.

As the title suggests, the game’s venues are broken down into decades, starting with the modern times and moving from the 2000 to the 1970’s, making up a total of 5 venues, each housing 5 songs from the era, with those 3 extra songs labeled as “victory songs”, which you unlock as you complete the Career mode. Decades has some really good music this time around, with almost every song being easily recognizable and fun to play. Medium difficulty is rather easy, where I could get 5 stars without too much effort, and almost 100% on every song. The difficulty doesn’t ramp up too much between venues, however, there is a huge difficulty leap from Medium to Hard, like there was in the original On Tour, so practice up before making the jump.

Tabula Rasa Shutting Down, But Handing Out Goodies

Friday, November 21st, 2008 by Matt Cross

News broke this morning that the sci-fi MMO Tabula Rasa, led by Richard Garriott, is shutting its doors next February. Along with this news comes the disappointing news of learning that NCSoft was going to be laying off a lot of the devs that worked on the game. That sucks.

In effort to alleviate any pains that hardcore gamers are going to experience over this, they are giving out some nice goodies to players, as well as making the game free to play on January 10th! They’re hoping you’ll find one of the other NCSoft titles fun, as they’re giving away:

-3 free months of City of Heroes including digital client
-3 free months of Lineage II including digital client
-Aion beta access (coming soon)
-Aion pre-order access (available in 2009)
-1 free month of Aion including digital client (available in 2009)

Not bad, but still unfortunate that there will be so many losing their jobs.

Wrath of the Lich King Sells 2.8M in 24 Hours

Thursday, November 20th, 2008 by Matt Cross

Holy crap, that’s a lot of WoW! Breaking its previous record of 2.4 million with the Burning Crusade expansion, Wrath of the Lich King’s sales exceeded 2.8 million in just 24 hours, making it the fastest selling PC game ever. CEO and Blizzard co-founder Mike Morhaime had this to say:

“We’re grateful for the incredible support that players around the world have continued to show for World of Warcraft. Wrath of the Lich King contains some of the best content we’ve created for the game so far, and we look forward to seeing even more players log in to experience it in the days ahead.”

Quite an accomplishment for Blizzard! Congratulations are in order for them.

Now back to your regularly scheduled leveling grind. FOR THE HORDE!
