FFXIV Beta Applications Now Open

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 by Ryan L. Lopees

That is for the PC version, of course. Mind you, if you can get through the “congestion” as the site calls it, let me know. I sure haven’t been able to. You can sign up here.  It will be interesting since Yoichi Wada, President of Square Enix, has voiced his opinion that FFXIV could give World of Warcraft a run for its money.

MMOWTF - World of Warcraft: Cataclysm = new expansion

Friday, August 21st, 2009 by Zach Potts

Today at Blizzcon, Activision/Blizzard announced the newest expansion to their insanely popular MMO, World of Warcraft, entitled Cataclysm.

Like previous expansions, Cataclysm will offer players a variety of new things, from races, combinations, and places to explore. Cataclysm will make available the Goblin race to the Horde, and Worgen race to the Alliance, as well as allowing Tauren Paladins, Human Hunters, Night Elf Mages.

The level cap has also been raised to 85, as well as the addition of new skills and places to travel and explore.

No set date yet for the expansion, but look for it in 2010.

Wrath of the Lich King Sells 2.8M in 24 Hours

Thursday, November 20th, 2008 by Matt Cross

Holy crap, that’s a lot of WoW! Breaking its previous record of 2.4 million with the Burning Crusade expansion, Wrath of the Lich King’s sales exceeded 2.8 million in just 24 hours, making it the fastest selling PC game ever. CEO and Blizzard co-founder Mike Morhaime had this to say:

“We’re grateful for the incredible support that players around the world have continued to show for World of Warcraft. Wrath of the Lich King contains some of the best content we’ve created for the game so far, and we look forward to seeing even more players log in to experience it in the days ahead.”

Quite an accomplishment for Blizzard! Congratulations are in order for them.

Now back to your regularly scheduled leveling grind. FOR THE HORDE!

Lich King Gets the First Level 80

Friday, November 14th, 2008 by Matt Cross

Well, official level 80 any way. Congrats goes out to Nymh the Warlock of the French server Drek’thar, who reached the new max level in 27 hours! This is a pretty big feat to accomplish. I still haven’t made it to 70 yet. Soon.

The reason I say official, is because there was another person who actually should have been at 80 already using a mob-tagging method that was confirmed to be legal by a GM, but when the person actually did it, they were subsequently banned. Darus, of the guild Athene actually hit level 79 in just 13 hours played, but was banned and reset back to 70. Unfortunate, as thats pretty damn fast, and extremely unlucky.

WoW Under Siege

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 by Matt Cross

Most of you know of this tiny little game called World of Warcraft, and know that coming this Thursday, there will be an expansion coming out called Wrath of the Lich King. In preparation for that expansion, major WoW cities are getting invaded by scourge! I’ve heard that Stormwind is getting invaded to, but since I don’t play a sissy Alliance character, I couldn’t tell you for sure. Horde for the win.

THQ to bring lawsuit on Activision over Baja & Baja 1000

Monday, October 27th, 2008 by Matt Cross

By now most of you have probably seen and/or played the THQ racer, Baja: Edge of Control. Fans of that particular racing genre may know that Activision soon has a racer coming out called Baja 1000.

Then there are some of you that will see the covers for both games and wonder, much like I did, are these two games related or is one a sequel? What the heck is going on here?

Well, that’s what THQ is saying now. THQ, in a nutshell, is saying that Baja 1000 more or less copied their cover of Baja (released last month). Now as I take a gander at both covers, I can see why. They do look extremely similiar. THQ is claiming that due to the similar covers, it is likely to confuse, or deceive the public as to the existence of a connection or association between THQ and Activision, when in fact there isn’t. Not only this, but THQ apparently contacted Activision on October 8th to express their concerns over similar covers, which apparently fell on deaf ears.

What are your thoughts? Think it’s a ripoff? Let us know in the comment section!
