So it looks like either Activision or Infinity Ward have really set out for themselves to create a really, really foul precident regarding the latest installment in the Call of Duty series. If you’ve been living in a cave, been without power or otherwise just not around a computer then perhaps you’ve not heard the shenanigans going down with Modern Warfare 2. Well, let’s see if I can sum it up in a nutshell here for you since the story in multi-fold. What gives?

Ridiculous Pricing, forced software usage, dedicated servers yes/no/yes/no/who knows depending on the day, craptacular mutliplayer game browser… Want more?

Night of the Living DLC! In Colorvision!

The Day of the DLC

More and more these days, I find myself lusting after a certain kind of game. Simple, earnest games that developers thoughtfully deliver straight to my console or PC with no shipping and handling or gas expenditure required. I’ll try and limit my topics to venues I’m currently familiar with, such as the Xbox Live Arcade, Wii Shop Channel and Steam.

Steam Sale: Mount and Blade

Monday, January 26th, 2009 by Ryan L. Lopees

I was actually one of the people who paid for the alpha for this game to help the developers pursue the full release. Sure, some people will complain that it’s not a graphic power-house, but it’s a pretty damned good game from an independant developer. I happily annouce that I support Indie Developers with every fibre of my being.

Steam has Mount and Blade on sale now for a whopping $7.50. At that price I am sure just about everyone can enjoy it. You can download  a trial version at TaleWords’ Site that has a level cap, so give it a shot. I will tell you that I’ve gotten a lot more than $7.50 worth of enjoyment out of this game and I hope TaleWords Entertainment continues to move forward as a developer.

Zombies!!! More zombies!

Monday, October 27th, 2008 by Matt Cross

Fans of the popular board game Zombies!!! will love this! Makers of the board game, Twilight Creations, have announced that there is a video game version of the popular game in the works! The video game version is currently under development by game makers Big Rooster for release on Steam, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade sometime in 2009.

For those who don’t know what the game is, Zombies!!! is a tile-based board game in which you basically survive a zombie oncoming. Since the board is tile based, each game can be setup differently, and expansions to the game allow for even further customization.

I’ve actually played the board game and I can say its definitely fun, and if done correctly, will be a great purchase when it is released.

Don’t you just love how Halloween brings out the zombies from pretty much everywhere! Hit the jump for the full press release!

Fallout 3 Pre-Purchase DL Available Now

Saturday, October 25th, 2008 by Matt Cross

Good news Fallout fans! Valve just announced that the newest, highly anticipated title Fallout 3, is now available for pre-purchase via Steam and Direct2Drive!

Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve, had this to say:

“Fallout 3 is one of the most important PC launches of 2008. Last year, we were able to deliver major releases such as Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 to the millions of gamers connected to Steam. With Fallout 3 added to the line up of great titles coming to Steam, this year promises to be an even better holiday season for Steam gamers.”

Looks like Gabe is excited for this one, and I know I am as well. Look for Fallout 3 to be released here in the states on October 28th.

Left 4 Dead Achievements Announced

Monday, October 20th, 2008 by Matt Cross

One of the most anticipated games this year coming from the folks at Valve, Left 4 Dead, has some pretty nifty achievements. This game is sure to be a big hit, and one that I know I’m hugely looking forward to. Courtesy of the folks at Maximum PC, we can now see what to expect in the form of 52 achievements, to completely conquer the game. Got time to kill 53,595 zombies? I hope so. If you want the “Zombie Genocidest” achievement, you have to.  Some of these sound pretty fun, some sound like they might be difficult (or time consuming) to get.  I’d bet someone will get ‘em all though.  Hit the jump for the full list.
